About the Course
This course will benefit existing persons in supervisory roles as well as HR and IR Managers.
You'll meet the following objectives
- Develop a basic understanding of IR Law and the IRA
- Appreciate the definitions and components of a contract and the roles and responsibilities of the employer and employee under contract law.
- Articulate the various methods of termination and gain and appreciation for the disciplinary action process.
- Define and explain various types of vicarious liability. Develop an understanding for OSHA law and the responsibilities it includes
Meet the instructor
Chantal La Roche
Chantal La Roche is an Attorney-at-Law of twelve years standing, and a graduate of the Hugh Wooding Law School. Chantal brings her years of legal experience to her current role of Senior Legal Officer and is responsible for providing corporate legal advice and services in several areas of law including constitutional, public, contract, landlord and tenant and employment law. She is a member of her organisation’s senior leadership team. She also holds of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with specialised electives in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and several diplomas and certificates in corporate governance, legislative drafting, public procurement, industrial relations and contract management. An experienced lecturer and tutor, Chantal has also served as a facilitator/trainer in contract law for non-legal professionals employed in financial institutions, companies in the oil and gas sector and other private sector organisations. Chantal is avidly involved in charitable work and at present she is a Board Member for two local non-profit organisations: The Student & Professional Organisation of Trinidad & Tobago and the Anglican Education Board of Management, and was the Secretary to the Board of Quota Trinidad & Tobago, a role she held until 2022. Chantal champions several gender equity causes and projects, and is now actively involved in motivational speaking and training of young professionals, with a focus on leadership development and personal branding.
